Quelle est cette bête?

NDLR : Des problèmes techniques m'empêchent d'insérer plus de photos, j'ai dû me contenter de liens. Mes excuses, je ferai mieux la prochaine fois, promis juré!

Voici ma première réalisation pour Le Défi 2010 : New Look 6558. Croyez-moi, en arriver là n'a pas été facile! Mais pas pour les raisons que vous pensez!

Je n'ai l' électricité ni le matin, ni le soir. Avec la Coupe du Monde, je l'ai aux heures de match mais la compagnie nationale demande de ne pas allumer d'appareils ènergivores donc je me sacrifie pour la nation!

Bon, la robe : New Look 6558, comme annoncé précédemment.

J'adore vraiment cette serie de patrons "Mix and Match". Six variations de corsage dans un seul patron, ça donne des idées!

J'ai fait la version G+I avec le corsage froncé et retenu par une bande.

En gros, pas de problème sauf que...Vous avez entendu parler de la pensée magique? Et bien, je l' applique souvent en couture. Trop souvent, même.

Je pensais pouvoir sauter la case Ajustement. J'ai eu tort! En voici la liste:

1) 1,7 cm enlevés au-dessus de la taille pour réduire la longueur dos; la balance étant ajusté dans la bretelle, une adaptation de la règle de 1/3 + 2/3 de Burda;
2) 10cm ôtés de la jupe par tranches de 2,5 cm pour ramener mon ourlet au-dessus de MON genou à moi! Je ne fait que 1m53;
3) J ai pris un petit 1,5 cm au milieu Devant à l encolure, en mourant comme disait ma grand-mère.
4) Moins 1,5 cm à peu près sous chaque aisselle, toujours en mourant vers le bas du corsage;
5) Je doute que le milieu froncé fasse les 6,3 cm demandés parce que mon fil s est cassé donc je l ai noué et puis finito;
6) J ai cousu la bande avec 1,5 cm de coutures plutôt que 1,3 cm;
7) Cousu mon ourlet habituel de 5cm et non les 4cm indiqués.

En bref, les ajustements verticaux habituels plus la question des épaules étroites.

Je n'aimais pas non plus la technique de doublure conseillée pour le corsage. J'ai préféré doubler le devant avant de le froncer et de finir le dos du corsage avec la technique de New Look 6557:

J'aime beaucoup cette robe mais attention au décolleté plutôt plongeant.

A noter que je porte un soutien-gorge à balconnet de chez Celle-Qui-A-Un-Secret. Faites gaffe!

This is the first Finished Object of my 2010 Challenge : New Look 6558. Believe me, it wasn't easy crossing that finish line! But for the reasons you think.

I don't have electricity in the morning OR in the evenings. With the Cup, it's on during the matches but the national company asks us not to turn on energy-hungry appliances so I sacrifice my passion to the greater good.

I made New Look 6558, as announced in a previous post.

I'm really loving this series. When they say "Design your look...with mix and match pattern pieces" they really mean it. This dress has an Empire waistline, 6 bodice variations, an optional belt and an above the knee A-line skirt that is standard for all views.

Have you heard of Magical Thinking? Apparently I use this in my sewing...A LOT. I actually thought that, because I wanted to start sewing this dress right away, all my Narrow Shoulders Alteration, and Petite Alteration needs would just fade away.

I was wrong. Here's the list:

1) I shortened the Skirt Front and Back pieces by 6/8" (1,7 cm) above the waist to shorten the back length. The remaining 1/3 of back length difference was taken up in the strap.
2) I also shortened the skirt by 4" (10cm) below in 1" (2,5 cm) increments to bring the length above MY knee. I'm only 5'05 (1m53);
3) At the first fitting, I took the bodice in at CF by 5/8" (1,5 cm), tapering to nothing about halfway on the curve to compensate for being too lazy to do a Narrow Shoulders Alteration;
4) I also took out 5/8" (1,5 cm) approx. at the side seam at the underarm, tapering to nothing at lower bodice seam, still for NSA purposes;
5) Not sure my front gathered to the 2.5" (6,3 cm) instructed because my thread broke and so I tied off my ends and called it a day;
6) The tab at CF called for 3/8" (1,3 cm) seams but it looked too wide for my tastes so I sewed it with 5/8" (1,5cm) instead;
7) I made my standard 2" (5cm) hem instead of the 1.5" (4 cm) just because I'm a creature of habit ;)

Don't be scared, this is not surprising to me. Most of my alterations are due to my height and my sub-standard shoulders. The rest of me is (so far as I have discovered) pretty standard.

From the start I disagreed with the lining technique for the Center Front seam so I ditched them. I also used the instructions for NL6557.

Please note that I'm wearing a demi-bra from She Who Has A Secret in the photo and this might be a little too low-cut for some.

Look at the photos and read the review
