Blue skies smiling at me

Sewing is truly a forme of therapy, as they say. Last Friday [June 8th], I got some really bad news. A high school friend was in intensive care and might not survive.

I was really upset. To get through it, I decided to sew myself a little blue sundress.

The base pattern is Burda Petite E842 #820. I altered the skirt to make it flare more.

But, above all, I added a double circular flounce to the neckline, following the advice in The Art of Manipulating Fabric de Colette Wolff:

The fabric is a 100% cotton plaid seersucker from Vogue Fabrics. A first: I did the narrow hem on both the flounces and the hemline with my serger.
The light is very white in the pix because Hurrican Season has started and the day was overcast.

You'll notice the Lucky Luke murals in the yard. The house used to be a kindergarten.

This is my Cousin Paula, I think (pix 2+3). The Daltons are in the banana trees (pic 1)

I hope all goes well for your friend. This was a great way to deal with the stress of the news. I'll have to try sewing the next time I feel down or upset....
